Spotlight: Ran well over hurdles last time at Bellewstown when shaping as though 2m1f was too sharp (the hood he had sported was left off but now returns); lightly raced chaser who won his beginners race at Downpatrick before catching the eye of the stewards when fifth in a 2m4f novice at Fairyhouse (soft to heavy); one of the few potential improvers lurking and Harry Cobden rides.
Spotlight: Returning from a similar break when winning this 12 months ago off 1lb higher but was on a four-timer then and is now seeking a return to form in first-time cheekpieces; feasible winner should the new experiment work as the forecast rain won't be an issue.
Spotlight: Fairly treated on the best of his form for Willie Mullins and he's one who won't mind rain; now with another new yard after two runs for Michael Keady, finishing tailed off in the Grand National but back to form when second at Uttoxeter (2m4f, good); could be interesting.
Spotlight: Strike-rate of 7-16 over fences and one of his defeats was a second in this two years ago on soft ground (overall record suggests a drier surface is preferred); well handicapped and his third to Charlie Uberalles at Cartmel was on the back of a long absence; that could have put him spot on for this, a race his stable has won eight times.
Spotlight: 2-8 over fences; Irish raider who has won over 3m1f and was staying on when a 4l third over 2m at Tipperary last time; never ideal being 5lb out of the weights and best form is on good ground, so watch the weather.
Spotlight: Won at Newbury (2m4f, good) in March before a close second to Riskintheground at Cheltenham (2m5f); Uttoxeter was disappointing but he can jump out to his right so this track, on which he won a bumper, should suit; cheekpieces tried; good to soft would be fine but soft perhaps not.
Spotlight: Goes particularly well at Cartmel where he won three weeks ago (2m5f, good to soft) despite looking on a toughish mark; similar concerns here raised another 5lb and wouldn't want the ground to turn proper soft.
Spotlight: Winning for a fifth time at Perth when going back-to-back in their Gold Cup (3m, good), again accounting for Hang In There; 5lb lower than when third in this last year (also third in it in 2022) and has soft-ground form if going back far enough.
Spotlight: Won over the extended 2m4f at Ayr (good to soft) and Cheltenham (good) in April and perhaps ready for a break when a market drifter at Sandown later that month; possibilities off this mark if back in the groove, though good ground suits him well.
Spotlight: Beaten a neck here a month ago (by The Flier Begley), suffering the same fate as in the previous year's renewal; hasn't won for a while now and the handicapper isn't helping matters.
Spotlight: Has won three of his last four starts, most recently edging out Vintage Fizz over C&D a month ago (good; effective on soft); 4lb higher now and he is getting dangerously high in the weights.
Spotlight: Ideally placed when winning at Worcester and a career-high mark (having been raised 5lb) found him out at Uttoxeter; has another 3lb to deal with now (that amount out of the weights) but he stays 2m5f and this trip might now be what he needs; won't mind rain.
Spotlight: Failed to fire when defending Uttoxeter's Summer Cup 20 days ago (3m2f) having previously returned to form with a second to Statuario at Perth (3m); kept mostly to good ground these past two years but might prefer it a bit softer these days (has won on soft); third in this two years ago.
Spotlight: Irish challenger; 3lb out of the weights and over two years since he last won (overall strike-rate of 2-33); however, good second at Wexford on his return from a break and he's one who won't mind what the weather does.
Spotlight: Had her tail up in the spring with wins at Cheltenham (2m) and Plumpton (2m3f; again good) before a close third at Hexham (good to soft); 7lb out of the weights here but Tristan Durrell's claim reduces 3lb of that; not entirely dismissed despite the rise in grade.

Last year's winner Sure Touch (second choice) is dangerously treated should he turn a corner in the new headgear, while if there's an improver lurking it's Irish raider Ballysax Hank who is making his handicap debut as a chaser. Courtland and Statuario are others who command respect for a yard that targets this race. However, the switch to Sara Bradstock heightens interest in HORANTZAU D'AIRY who had some flashes of really good form when with Willie Mullins and he's no back number at his age. He ran well last time at Uttoxeter and he's one who won't be inconvenienced should it get wet.[Alistair Jones] Show less
